What is yoga nidra?

Yoga Nidra, also known as "yogic sleep," is a practice that combines elements of meditation and relaxation to help the body and mind enter a state of deep rest. To practice Yoga Nidra:

  1. Find a quiet and comfortable place to lie down or sit.
  2. Close your eyes and begin to focus on your breath.
  3. As you breathe, allow your body to relax and release any tension.
  4. Begin to scan your body from head to toe, noticing any areas of tension or discomfort.
  5. Bring your attention to a word, phrase, or image that you find calming and focus on it as you continue to breathe deeply.
  6. Continue to focus on your breath and the chosen word, phrase, or image for about 20-45 minutes.
  7. Gradually bring your awareness back to the present moment and open your eyes. It's important to note that it's best to practice under the guidance of a qualified teacher as well as to listen to guided yoga nidra audio recordings.
